这篇研究的目的是为了探讨成年人刷牙行为和牙周袋变化之间的关系。研究收集了1025名参加了2次芬兰国家调查(Health 2000和Health 2011， BRIF8901)的年龄在30-89岁之间并记录了其刷牙频率成年人的数据报告。定期刷牙的累积量通过计算在2次调查中参与者每日刷牙2次或更多次数的数量(范围从0到2)。通过线性回归模型调整混杂因素评估参与者11年间的刷牙行为与牙周袋深度(PPD)≥4mm的牙齿数量之间的联系。结果显示，刷牙频率(不论是调查前还是随访期间)与PPD≥4mm牙齿数量的变化之间存在清晰的剂量反应关系。有证据显示，定期刷牙对PPD≥4mm牙齿数量的变化具有累积效应。在2次调查中每日刷牙2次或更多次数的参与者比那些在任何一次调查中都没有刷牙的参与者要多出1.99 (95% CI： 1.02 to 2.95)颗PPD≥4mm的牙齿。结论：这项持续11年的前瞻性研究显示，刷牙行为与具有牙周袋牙齿数量的较小增量之间存在一定的联系。原始出处：Joshi S， Suominen AL， et al.
