日本学者在在《食品科学与营养》上发表的研究提示，有心血管疾病风险的成年人中，饮用未经加工的西红柿汁可以降低血压和低密度脂蛋白胆固醇。 番茄含有多种生物活性化合物，如类胡萝卜素、维生素A、钙和γ-氨基丁酸，可能在维持身体和心理健康方面起到作用，包括预防心血管疾病。


日本学者在在《食品科学与营养》上发表的研究提示，有心血管疾病风险的成年人中，饮用未经加工的西红柿汁可以降低血压和低密度脂蛋白胆固醇。

番茄含有多种生物活性化合物，如类胡萝卜素、维生素A、钙和γ-氨基丁酸，可能在维持身体和心理健康方面起到作用，包括预防心血管疾病。

在这项研究中，184名男性和297名女士在一年中按照个人意愿喝未经加工西红柿汁。

研究结束时，94名未经治疗的高血压前期或高血压患者的血压显著下降：收缩压从141.2 mmHg降至137.0 mmHg，舒张压从平均83.3 mmHg降至80.9 mmHg。

125名未经治疗的高胆固醇血症者的低密度脂蛋白胆固醇水平从平均155.0 mg/dl降至149.9 mg/dl。

对于未经加工西红柿汁带来的有益作用，在男性和女性之间以及不同年龄段之间是相似的，而且研究前后生活方式无显著差异，不能归因于生活方式的改变。
