26%的拉丁裔受访者不知道AED是什么，白种人的这一比例为5%。19%的拉美裔人正确地报道说"任何人"都可以使用AED，而白人则是27%。

AED是一种计算机化的医疗设备，可以检查一个人的心率和节奏，并在必要时通过电击从胸部传导到心脏。它可以帮助挽救突发心脏骤停、突然丧失心脏功能的人的生命。AED使用语音提示，灯光和视觉信息来指导救援人员使用AED。AEDs非常准确，易于使用。根据美国心脏协会(American Heart Association)的数据，只要经过几小时的训练，任何人都可以学会安全操作AED。
